This weekend I came to Mackay to celebrate Mum’s 76th birthday. My sister and brother came too and with them there to spend the day with Mum, I went for a walk.
Mackay put on a postcard perfect Autumn day. Clear blue sky, with the temperature hitting 30 after lunch.
I walked along the river walk all the way to Town Beach and then all the way the other way to the Botanic Gardens. Mackay was at her best; the scenery was splendid.
I walked 31 kms and loved every step. Here’s the track from my GPS. Believe me, if you are ever in Mackay, take a walk along the river walk. The Pioneer River is one of only two blue-water rivers in Queensland and today it was at its best!
Hark! Is that the elusive long-neck in Grandma’s garden?
