The entry to the monastery is the oldest remaining structure
The basilica was, as you would expect, quite ornate
The organ, however, was much more modern than its surrounds
La Moreneta (the black statue of the Virgin Mary) sits high above the altar
The railway station in the foreground with the funiculars sitting above
The complex has grown over time with a hotel in the foreground and the monastery in the main building
The funicular up to the hermitage of Sant Joan was very steep
The mountain dropped away steeply to the north
The area has grown significantly to accommodate the tourist trade
The journey back to Barcelona afforded one last look at the serrated mountain range
