We arrived by train into Venice and caught a ferry (Vaporetto number 1) to our accommodation which is near the Rialto Bridge (Ponte di Rialto)
A quick walk around to get our bearings and it was off to the islands of Murano and Burano the next day
For me, Burano was the pick of the day. All the houses on the island are painted in very bright colours – originally so the fisherman could easily identify there house when returning to port after a days fishing. we also did the obligatory shopping for Murano glass – a task we will continue with today. When in Venice 10 yrs ago – we vowed that when we returned, we would buy a piece of Murano glass.
